Our Creed

Our purpose is to inspire people. The very definition of inspiration requires a departure from the known into the unknown. It requires the courage to go to places where there are no footsteps to follow. Where there are no footsteps period.

The absence of fear means an absence of risk. Risk is the currency of life. Without risk, there is no life. We are willing to risk failure in return for a sense that we are living.

It's not that people didn't think that we could get to the moon that made it exciting. It's that they'd never considered it one way or the other. They never thought to think about it. We will create enterprises that people never thought to think about. And they shall be as exciting as going to the moon.

In any courageous endeavor there is always a sense in one's mind that it is misguided, will fail, and one will be made to look foolish. Always, the heart is saying, "go." We will listen to our hearts.

Above all, remember this - that anyone can laugh at an idea. That anyone can criticize a failure. That anyone can call you stupid. And when they do, who is the more fortunate being? The one laughing, or the one learning? We will live with the courage to be laughed at. History remembers courage. There are no monuments to critics.

The ocean is not magnificent to a five year-old because it is the ocean. It is magnificent because she is seeing it for the first time. Everything is new. We are in business to allow people to see things for the first time. Things that are new. Through their five year-old eyes with five year-old smiles. In order to do that, we must create things that have never before been seen.

The absence of inspiration does not lead merely to complacency. It breeds cynicism, hatred, and, ultimately, violence. AIDS is not the enemy. Breast cancer is not the enemy. It is the absence of inspiration that represents the greatest threat. Inspiration is the key to the promise of humanity.

Inspiration is not merely a matter of being "fired up." It is, at its core, a deep communion with ones' love for humanity and life itself.

Inspiration does not come from simply big enterprises. It comes from courageous ones.

There is greatness in humility. We will pursue the impossible with humility, and when it is accomplished, we will humbly pursue it again. Laurels are for olive trees.
